Walking in the park to find the perfect flower
Just on the left past the old prison tower
There is a place beyond the river where the lilies float
It’s getting a little cold so I button up my coat
I think of you and there’s a smile on my face
And looking around myself at this beautiful place
I wonder what tomorrow will bring outside my door
With the chipped paint and purple rug on the floor
In this world which can be lonely and jaded
The need to be someone else has slowly faded
In search of truth in the midst of the lie
I look out of my window to watch life go by
Everything is clear and uncomplicated
And now I realise why I waited
To watch the flowers dance in the rain
As it washes away down the broken drain
I think to myself about the night before
And what the joker thought he saw
If love is blind then why should we see
What Eve did behind the apple tree
Looking for the last piece of the pie
Filled with fairytales and a lullaby
Of childhood stories that were always told
About finding true love that never grows old
With time which chimes from the grandfather clock
It’s a good day for my sailboat to dock
Would you sail away with me to a distant land
So we can walk and build castles in the sand
All the other castles have fallen down
War broke out and left them to drown
Swimming with the mermaids forever more
Will the fishes ever reach the shore
To watch the happy people together at last
Forgetting about their sadness in the past
And where the Senoritas dance the Flamingo
And hang bougainvillea from their window
The sun starts to go down behind the hill
Soaking up the pale of water from Jack and Jill
I close the storybook and put it down
So it can tell its stories to the china clown
Stories about princes and a happy ending
Books are unaware of the message they’re sending
So I decide to carry on just being me
And lock away my doubts with the silver key
As you kiss me I forget to breathe
Holding onto that feeling which will never leave
Because I know it is a beautiful time to live
Now I have found you that I can be myself with.
